We are currently closed to the public, apart from the Cafe area (Tuesday-Sunday, 10am-4pm), and the Market area (Saturdays 10am-3pm).
We are working on safe systems for re-opening this Summer, but please bear with us as current social distancing regulations are too strict for us to manage with our limited staffing.
Please donate to support us now and in the future.
Or by booking a virtual animal appearance for your online meeting.
Donations large and small are always gratefully received:
£2.50 could feed our sheep and goats for a day
£10 could feed our rabbits for a week
£25 could feed our chickens for a week
£50 could pay for a donkey hoof trim
Stepney City Farm is a three acre working farm; a rural oasis, in the heart of Tower Hamlets. We give children and adults a chance to meet farm animals, learn how to grow food and try out arts and crafts. Every Saturday, the Farm hosts a popular Farmer’s Market.
We have an extensive education programme, with over 5,000 school children and young people benefiting from funded classes, tours and projects each year.
We are an educational charity working to improve lives through farming; we provide a welcoming green space to bring together our diverse community, and cultivate wellbeing through high-welfare, environmentally-sustainable farming practices.
The Farm is free to all visitors and everyone is welcome.

“Saying city farms have educational value is like saying a glass of water will quench your thirst. Of course they do. There are arts and training projects here for people with disabilities; regularly the paths throng with visits by schools. It is space in which the old skills are kept alive. But there are other less tangible virtues to do with simple wellbeing and an environment that has been nurtured into life for the past 40 years by the local community. The farm has returned the favour, by nurturing the community within which it sits.
But more than anything else, it is just a lovely place to be.”
