Our two resident sows are a Berkshire and a Gloucester Old Spot, both of which are pedigree rare breed.  They will have one or two litters of piglets every year, and the meat will be used and sold in the Cafe.  Over winter they live in a smaller field which is mainly hardstanding (so their feet don’t get too soggy) and their digging ground can be rested and sown with green manures to protect and enrich the soil – the pigs like eating them too come spring time.  All our pigs are very friendly and really appreciate a good scratch, or belly rub if you can reach!
