Furry Tales

Connecting people to animals, nature and each other

Furry Tales brought different generations together over a love of nature and animals. The highly successful programme ran animal-assisted and nature-based activities onsite at the Farm and at local residential care facilities to combat isolation and increase social opportunities for older people in Tower Hamlets.

Building on the evolving nature of the programme over the six years it ran, the Farm will continue to run therapeutic animal-assisted onsite onsite sessions from 2019, under the new title of the Animal and Nature Wellbeing Group.

club_plantersSessions include:

– learning how to health-check & care for guinea pigs, rabbits and bantam hens

– nature-based creative activities

– herb & vegetable growing

– opportunities to socialise with people of all ages

See the Furry Tales feature in the Metro.

If you’re looking to volunteer to support the new programme, you can find out more on on Volunteering page or just turn up to one of the Farm’s Open Volunteers sessions.

‘The lovely feeling I get – I feel good – it’s therapeutic… This animal is so happy, it’s making me happy too.’
