London Harvest Festival

We enjoyed great success at the London Harvest Festival on Saturday 28 September. The annual event is organised by London City Farms and Community Gardens Association and takes place at Woodlands Farm. It brings together city farms and community gardens from across London to show their animals, share their produce and celebrate London’s outdoor heritage.

We came fourth in the overall livestock category for the second year in a row.

Our Soay ram lamb and farmer Tom celebrated a first in the ‘Animal Most Like its Handler’ category.

Our goat kid Mimosa was awarded a second in the ‘Most Obedient Animal’ class, and we won both second and fourth with our geese.

Our volunteer Chris showed one of our Brahma chickens, winning a 4th place rosette. Mr Wiggles – our much loved ferret – secured a 5th. Mr Soay, one of our rams, came 6th in the sheep category.

Huge thanks to our staff Tom and Colin who led the Stepney team, and to our volunteers Chris, Matt, Alasdair and Hannah for their help showing the animals. We had lots of support from our other volunteers – including Jackie who stepped up to the plate and joined our tug of war team at the last minute.

Good at farming, not so good at tug of war.
