The Green Wood Guild

The Green Wood Guild is a unique organisation that gives it’s members the opportunity to explore the world of traditional woodwork.

Led by Barnaby Carder and Nic Westermann – two world respected leaders in the craft, we offer a diverse range of courses, workshops and taster sessions. All based on ancient woodworking skills & techniques, working with traditional hand tools, and using wood straight from the tree, whilst it is still fresh.

New Gift Vouchers!

We now have beautiful Gift Vouchers available, allowing you to give your loved-ones the perfect first steps into a world of traditional fine woodwork.

Our Barn the Spoon gift vouchers are valid for a place on our Spoon Carving Day Workshops, or redeemable against some of our other classes. For more info click here!

Gift Box

Our Whittling Gift Boxes are a complete package providing someone with everything they need to get started in wood carving and the best possible foundation for embracing the craft as a whole. For more info click here!

We run evening and day classes, passing on these time-honoured skills and sharing our knowledge and passion for the craft.

Open Studio Saturdays

Saturday’s are a chance to visit our open studio, learn about what we do and try one of our have-a-go sessions, all for free. We also run inexpensive mini workshops on a Saturday, to make something that you can take home and use.

Volunteer Day

These are held on Tuesdays & Fridays and are a great way to get involved with the work that we do – spending a day a week working on a variety of tasks to maintain and improve the workshop. Whether for 6 months or just a few weeks, we’re always looking for people who are keen to come on board. An opportunity to learn a few skills and to gain experience in a workshop environment.

To become a volunteer contact Harry to arrange a trial day: thegreenwoodguild@gmail.com or call Harry on 07807 593 14.

Team Building & Office Away Days

We offer a range of workshops and woody activities for team building and corporate away days, based at our large workshop on the Farm. These can be anything from large-scale projects to mini-workshops, but all involve the use of ancient tools and methods, and working with green wood from locally felled trees.

For a list of available projects, please email us at thegreenwoodguild@gmail.com

Demos & Events

The Green Wood Guild is also mobile and available for events. All of our workshops are portable and come fully equipped with the necessary tools and materials, enabling us to give demonstrations or teaching anywhere in and around London.
