Shearing demonstration will be taking place at 11.30am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm, 2.45pm – each shearing will be accompanied by a talk by the farm’s Livestock Manager, Tom, so visitors can find out more about when, why and how sheep are sheared and have all their woolly questions answered.

Sheep facts will be displayed around the farm, plus look out for special craft activities for kids – a unique chance to use real sheep wool to make a picture.

Stepney City Farm is home to seven sheep and seven lambs. These are made up of two different breeds, Soay and Jacob, who visitors can meet on the day.

The farm’s Livestock Manager, Tom, says: “Stepney City Farm is a very special place in the city – a working farm demonstrating high welfare farming techniques, teaching Londoners about sustainable farming and rural arts and crafts. Sheepy Saturday is an opportunity to find out more about one the most iconic farm animals. It’ll give visitors a new understanding of woolen products and our fluffy friends.”

This family friendly event runs from 11am-3.30pm and is completely free, although donations are appreciated.
